Welcome on desktop firewall - blog. Well, i have found, interesting study created by Aucsert. It’s about web users and their point of view about computer security. In this study, you can find few examples related to firewall software. According to Aucsert, 27 % of Internet users, who didn’t install any firewall software said it’s just unnecessary. There are also people who have problems too to install and use this kind of software - 20 %. Also according to Aucsert:
- 24 % of the people who didn’t install any kind of an anti-spam filter, is talking that risk is too low.
- 30 % of the respondents click on every link included in spam emails. They probably do not know about something called “phishing” (phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.-wikipedia). Someone can stole your private data without problem…
- 11 % of the respondents NEVER update the operating system.
- 8 % ignore the anti-virus update function. If you won’t update your security software, it’s worthless…
Well, you don’t need to live in paranoia, but there several simple rules you should respected using Internet access. Even best desktop firewall, or very expensive antivirus won’t help you if you are reckless. When you think, you are always safe….
See you next time friends
